Health Guidlines for Children

This past summer the American Academy of Pediatrics released in its journal the Clinical ReportHealth Supervision for Children With Down Syndrome. The online version of this article, along with updated information is located at http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2011/07/21/peds.2011-1605
These guidelines are designed to assist the pediatrician but are helpful to parents as well.  Pediatricians typically care for a child with a confirmed diagnosis of Down syndrome from infancy into adolescence. This report will also be helpful to a woman whose baby has been given a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome to become aware of the testing and possible procedures that will occur once the baby is born.
